What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of healing that uses the "Universal Life Enrgy." Its techniques were codified in the 1920's by Dr. Mikao Usui, who claimed that he found its methods in ancient Buddhist Sutras dating back 2500 years.
Practitioners of Reiki say that the energy they use has an intelligence of its own, that the energy will flow to where it is needed the most.
There are three degrees of Reiki. Each degree has its own attunement.
Reiki I practitioners can do physical "close contact" healings ("laying on of hands").
Reiki II practitioners can do mental, emotional, and distance healings.
Reiki III practitioners, who are the most powerful of the Reiki degrees, can channel more energy, can pass attunements, and can do spiritual healings.
According to Reiki practitioners, Reiki, unlike other forms of energetic healing, does not consume the personal energy of the practitioner; the Reiki energy comes from a higher source, a limitless pool of energy, and is merely channelled by the practitioner into the areas where it is needed.
One of the easiest ways to experience Reiki and learn more about it is to attend a Reiki Circle. Reiki Circles are a place for practitioners to give Reiki (practice their art and craft), for the curious to learn about Reiki, and those who are in need of healing to recieve it. Reiki Circles also provide some networking opportunities for those interested in Reiki. Many communities have Reiki Circles; many of which are free.
